Braided Rugs

Braided rugs are truly an American classic. These handcrafted rugs were originally made from rags and came in different sizes and shapes. Today, braided rugs are made from long strips of cloth or yarn that are sewn together. The rugs are made from a variety of synthetic and natural fibers, such as nylon, wool, cotton, and polypropylene.

Although we often think of braided rugs in an oval shape manufacturers now offer them in several different shapes, such as square or rectangular shapes. The smaller sizes are often referred too as throw rugs or rag rugs.

The colors used in braided rugs have also changed considerably over the past few years. The newer color palettes are bolder and livelier than the original classic heather tones. Combined with various shapes these rugs will find broader appeal and fit many different lifestyles.

Another feature found in braided rugs are they are reversible which extends the useful life of these rugs. You will find these rugs used in many area of the home, including; kitchens, family rooms, sun rooms, dens and many summer homes. Durable and colorful braided rugs will be an American classic for years to come.
